Information
Theodor
Seuss Geisel was born 2 March 1904 in Springfield, MA.
He graduated Dartmouth College in 1925, and proceeded
on to Oxford University with the intent of acquiring a
doctorate in literature. At Oxford he met Helen Palmer,
who he wed in 1927.
Dr. Seuss changed children's literature. Together with
his wife Helen Palmer, he launched a whole line of Beginner
Books some of which he wrote and illustrated. Seuss was
one of the few authors of children's books who could get
away with moralizing. His zany illustrations and rhymes
allow the reader to enjoy the books and recognize the
morals without feeling the weight of a sermon.
